Finding Your Life Mantra

When I first heard the term “Life Mantra”, honestly I thought it sounded kinda weird and crazy. I mean why did I need a life mantra to remind myself that I am a wonderful person or that my life is amazing?

It took me many years to realize that I needed the life mantra because I would mentally beat myself up. Everytime something went wrong in my life, a relationship or friendship would end, I fell behind on bills…. anything that was wrong, I would tell myself hateful things. I would tell myself how stupid I am, how ugly I am, that my life sucked or that I was just not loveable.

When I wasn’t in the throes of my anxiety or depression, I could see how my life wasn’t as horrible as my mind was making it. In the midst of those throws, it was like a tape recorder on repeat where all the bad things were just ongoing in my mind. How could I feel like a wonderful person when the one person that should love…. me …. couldn’t say one nice thing to myself??

That is when I started working on my self-care and reading everything I could on helping get myself out of this repeat mode of bad thoughts. I can’t even tell how many self-help books I have read over the past 10 years but the one recurring theme was to change your bad thoughts into good thoughts. In addition to changing your thoughts, you should implement positive affirmations into your daily self care routine.

I like to take the positive affirmations one step further and created a life mantra. My life mantra is something that I like to repeat to myself when I start those bad thoughts. When life gets stressful and my instinct is to beat myself up, I repeat “I am loving and loveable” to myself over and over and over until I snap out. Some days, life gets overwhelming and I will not only repeat my mantra to myself but I will write my mantra down so that I see what I want to feel.

I know that some people use “I am Enough” or “My Life is Wonderful” as their life mantra. Your Life Mantra should feel unique to you. Think about how you wan to feel about yourself or your life…

Do you want to feel more love? Do you want to feel like you are enough? Do you want to feel your life is going in a certain direction? Do you want to feel successful in your life?

I am Loving and Loveable

Once you come up with your life mantra, it will take some time and practice but start by saying your life mantra to yourself when you wake up and before you go to bed. Doing this in the mirror is more effective, especially in the beginning, to get your mind used to repeating this to yourself. When you begin to think those bad thoughts, turn your thoughts to your life mantra to turn yourself around to the positive side.

Yes, this takes work, time and patience but it is so worth it because self-care is important to everyone at every age. Start slow and begin to build your life mantra into your everyday thinking. When you see yourself, spiraling down, say your mantra and bring yourself up again. I believe in you and now it is time to believe in yourself!

Cinnamon Apple Pull Apart Bread Recipe 

This is a yummy recipe for easy breakfast mornings, especially in the fall and winter because it fills your home with the smell of delicious apples. Feeds 4-5 People

Ingredients:

-1 can of Pillsbury biscuits (we use regular Flaky biscuits or the Honey biscuits)

-2 apples

1/2 cup of white sugar

1/4 cup of brown sugar

1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Baking dish of your choice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Note on my recipe: I use my ceramic bread baking dish which measures 9″x5″. You can increase the recipe by doubling the ingredients and using a larger baking dish or a bundt pan. Also, I use a covered bowl to more evenly coat the pieces with less mess.

Directions

  1. Cut the Biscuits in Quarters
  2. Peel and dice the apples. Then add them to the biscuits bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg together.
  4. Add a little bit of the biscuits/apples into the sugar mix.
  5. Put the lid on the mix and shake, shake, shake (kids would love this part). Place the pieces in the baking pan. Keep going until all of the bits are covered with sugar.
  6. Once all of the pieces are in the baking dish, Bake for 40 mins or until all the pieces look golden brown. I place on the bottom rack for 30 minutes and top rack for the last 10 minutes. Let the dish cool 10-15 minutes before serving.

Cranberry Apple Porkchops Crockpot Printable Recipe #feedmefriday

I just love fall and all the flavors that come with it. This baby is loving apple everything so I decided to make some pork chops with apples but wanted to add something else to it. Why not try some cranberries? Plus, I needed to make an easy recipe because Wednesday nights are dance nights which means it is crockpot night.

 

This recipe is super super simple with pork chops (I chose boneless but you can you bone-in), slices of apples, cranberries, apple cider, balsamic vinager, brown sugar and onions. This is how I made it…. I placed a layer of cranberries, then the pork chops, sprinkled Tastefully Simples Onion Onion (I am not a fan of chopping onions and making my hands smell), added the vinegar and cider and let it sit for 4 hours. About an hour before serving, I added the sliced apples and brown sugar. I served this with egg noodles and wow the pork chops were so moist and just pulled apart! The only thing that I am changing for the recipe is less balsamic vinegar and more brown sugar because the fresh cranberries were still quite tart when I bit into them but still very yummy!

Cranberry Apple Pork Chops Crockpot Recipe

  • Servings: 4-6

An easy crockpot recipe full of Fall flavors.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork chops (boneless or bone-in)
  • 1 pound fresh cranberries (whole cranberries in a can work as well)
  • 5-6 apples (I used Golden apples because they were on sale)
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (or more if you like a sweeter dish)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

Directions

  1. Place the crockpot on low and spray with non-stick spray (Easier clean up).
  2. Place a layer of onions, then cranberries, then pork chops.
  3. Add the balsamic vinegar and apple cider.
  4. One hour before you are ready to serve, add the brown sugar and apples. Mix the ingredients.
  5. When you are ready to serve, serve with noodles or rice and enjoy!

Homemade Applesauce Recipe

It is that time of year…. time for Apples and Pumpkins! I love the smell of baking or cooking apples in my house. It just makes me feel so warm and comfy in the crisp fall weather. On a whim, Danyella and I stopped by one of the local fresh farm stands, Piazza Farms, on our way home from dance last weekend. On Sunday, I debated what I wanted to make with the apples plus what I wanted to make for dinner. I found pork chops in my freezer and the rest was history…. I needed homemade applesauce to go with my pork chops!

When you make this, you can adjust the recipe to make more and can the applesauce for future enjoyment! I made notes on how to add some of the ingredients to increase the recipe. Enjoy!

Homemade Crockpot Applesauce

  • Servings: 4-6
  • Difficulty: easy

A delicious fall homemade applesauce recipe that you can easily make in your crockpot and enjoy the apple scent.


Ingredients

  • 5-6 apples, I prefer Gala or Jonagold
  • 1/2 cup of sugar per 5-6 apples
  • 1/2 cup water per 5-6 apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions

  1. Peel, slice and dice your apples. I love my apple peeler, corer, slicer for this
  2. Add the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a bowl.
  3. Add the apples and sugar mix to the crockpot and mix so the apples are well coated with the sugar mixture.
  4. Add the water.
  5. Put the crockpot on high, cover and cook for 4 hours.
  6. Keep mixing the apples. If the applesauce feels to watery, leave the crockpot lid off for a while.
  7. I prefer to mash the apples down as they cook so you get some chunks and some creamy applesauce.
  8. Enjoy with a meal or on its own!
